Terry is a warrior - Hodgson
Roy Hodgson expects to see John Terry's warrior instinct come to the fore during England's Euro 2012 campaign.
Terry: Hailed by Hodgson
Terry's presence within the England squad has been the subject of intense debate.
There are some who feel the 31-year-old should not have been picked once his court hearing into allegations he racially abused Anton Ferdinand, which Terry strenuously denies, was put back until July.
Others feel Terry's presence is directly responsible for Rio Ferdinand's absence, no matter how often Hodgson argues to the contrary.
There is little doubt though, Hodgson has stuck his neck out to have Terry involved.
And he is certain that faith will be rewarded.
"We all know John's qualities, we all know what a good centre-half he is and what a warrior he is," said Hodgson.
"We also know he is capable of taking other players with him, not least of all his team-mate Ashley Cole, with whom he is used to playing.
"I'm just hoping John will show all the qualities I have seen from him over many years with England.
"I'm convinced he is determined to do that. He feels this is a great opportunity to show the very best of what he can do."
