Samba: I will not let the racists break me (Goal.com)
"I feel extremely passionately about racism in football and will never let the small community of racists break me," Samba said in a statement to the Associated Press.
A banana was thrown at Samba during a match against Lokomotiv Moscow in March, but he insists that a small number of fans will not bring him down.
"I'm a strong character and will keep fighting for my team," Samba stated.
"I am thoroughly enjoying my time in Russia and although I was of course angry at the incident, along with the rest of the football world, racist issues here are no different to what I have experienced in other countries."
This is not the first time Russian fans have been accused of racist behavior. Samba's team-mate Roberto Carlos had bananas thrown at him twice last year. And in 2010, Lokomotiv Moscow fans unfurled a banner showing a banana directed at Nigerian striker Peter Odemwingie.
